Verzest

An AI assistant for literary translators. It helps you draft, revise and keep a whole book consistent, using the AI model you choose.

Workbench. Source and translation side by side. Revise a single paragraph with a note, or the whole chapter, while the glossary, similar passages and style guide stay in view.

01 / What it does

An assistant for translators.

Each part takes care of a routine piece of the work, so you can spend your time on the translation itself.

01

Chapter by chapter

Import EPUB, DOCX, PDF or plain text. Verzest finds the chapters, and you review, merge or split them before anything is translated.

02

Your model, your choice

Use a ChatGPT plan through the Codex CLI, your own API key (Anthropic, OpenAI, OpenRouter, Gemini) or a local model through Ollama, LM Studio or MLX.

03

Revise, don’t retype

Ask for changes to one paragraph or a whole chapter in plain words. Every version is kept, so you can compare and go back.

04

Consistent across the book

A glossary and a style guide go with every request. Accepted passages become translation memory for similar passages later.

05

Checks before you accept

Paragraph counts, glossary use, leftover English and number drift are checked, and language cleanup rules run when a chapter is accepted.

06

Local first

One SQLite file per book on your own disk. No account, no cloud, no telemetry. API keys live in the system keychain.

02 / Screens

From import to export.

Import a book. Chapters are detected from the book structure. Merge short ones, split long ones, or rename them before you start.
Glossary. Names and recurring terms with usage counts, suggested terms from the book, and CSV import and export.
Style guide. A short brief, a whole-book overview and language rules, with a preview of exactly what the model receives.
Accept a chapter. See every cleanup change and every check before the chapter is locked and saved to translation memory.
Export. Plain text, Word, OpenDocument, EPUB, or bilingual files with source and translation side by side.

03 / Get Verzest

Version 0.1.0 is out.

The first version was released on 1 November 2026, with installers for Linux, Windows and macOS. English, Persian, Turkish and Arabic have built-in language rules, and auto-update is planned for a later version.

Verzest is available on request. Send me a message and I will get back to you.
